Trek from Tyangboche to Dingboche (4260m.)toDuglha(4600m.) this will take approximately nine hours

Dingboche is a beautiful patchwork of well cultivated lush green fields enclosed by stone walls protecting the crops of barley, buckwheat and potatoes from the cold winds and grazing animals. Stay overnight at lodge. The onward journey leads north for up to 50-minutes until you come to a mani-prayer Stupa. The trail is gentle looking down to Pheriche village below. Today's walk offers views of the Mt.Tawache, AmaDablam and to the north-Pokalde (5741m) Kongma-tse (5820m) and the great wall of Nuptse. After 11⁄2 to 2 hours walk, the trail from Pheriche joins near Duglha (4595m) before a small wooden bridge over the river of the Khumbu glacier. Stop at Duglha, for lunch, before continuing for an hour up a steep hill to the top, where there are views of Mt. Pumori and other peaks west of Everest. 6

Trek from Duglha to Lobuche (4,950 m) 3-4 hours trek.

Beyond Duglha we trek up the steep difficult moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. We find our path through the boulder-strewn slope as we ascend ChupkiLhara, an uncanny ridge top with dramatic mountains views. An early start is necessary today, as we have to cross Cho La and make the long descent to Lobuche. As we hike up the valley, we cross a ridge and an old lateral moraine, before beginning the rocky scramble to the pass. From the pass there are excellent views, across to the famous Rolwaling Valley in the west and AmaDablam to the south east. The descent from the pass involves the crossing of a small glacier [often snow covered] which is fairly straightforward. There are more excellent views of AmaDablam and the forbidding north face of Cholatse as we descend to the pastures below. The way to Lobuche contours the grassy slopes above a lake, the TsholaTsho, to join up with the main Everest trail from Pheriche and Thyangboche. The trail flattens out and follows the valley on the west side of the Khumbu Glacier as we plod on to Lobuche for the night

7

Trek to Gorakshep - Everest Base Camp (5,364 m) then return to Gorakshep (5170m.) 7 -8 hours

For the trek to Everest Base Camp, a very early start is required. It takes several hours on a trail across the Khumbu Glacier which weaves its way along translucent ice pinnacles and past seemingly bottomless crevasses. At Base Camp, there will hopefully be an expedition 'in residence' and there are great views up into the Khumbu Icefall where there is often some climbing activity. On the return leg, we can take a higher route to get a spectacular view of the Khumbu icefall and the route to the south Col. We then return to Gorakshep. We will spend approximately 4 and half hours trekking up to Everest Base Camp and back to Gorakshep. The trek is on a glacier and snow- capped rocks. We can also see many small frozen lakes around the Everest Base Camp area. We then return to Gorakshep for our stay overnight at a lodge.

8

Ascend to Kalapathar (5,550m) & return to Pheriche (4,280 m) 8-9 hours trek.

After some early morning tea/coffee, we climb to Kalapathar (5545m.) and enjoy a spectacular sunrise view. From Kalapatthar you can have a panoramic view of Mt. Everest and many other mountain peaks that include a host of famous ones: Mt. Pumori, Mt. Lingtren, Mt. Khumbetse, Mt. Nuptse, and Mt. Lhotse, Mt. AmaDablam, Mt. Thamserku and many more huge peaks. Yaks are normally regarded as four legged porters in this area due to its tough terrain which would be difficult for human porters. The town of Pheriche is also known as a highly windy town. Hereabouts, you can see the perpendicular walls of Cholatse and Tawache. The Himalayan Rescue Association Aid Post is also located here and foreign volunteer doctors provide medical treatment to trekkers as well as local people in this area. We stay overnight at a lodge.

9

Pheriche-Pangboche-Kyangjuma [3,500 m/11,280 ft]: 6 -7 hrs

We will trek down through hillocks blanketed by rhododendron and juniper trees. If it's spring, pink and red rhododendron flowers set our surroundings ablaze. Depending on our hunger and condition, we either have our lunch in Pangboche or wait until we reach PhunkiTenga for a lunch break. After crossing the prayer flag festooned bridge over the DudhKoshi River trail, we then follow the DudhKoshi gorge descending rapidly through the pine forests. The path eventually reaches Sanasa which is the major trail junction in the region. We stop at Kyangjuma (3570 m/11,710 ft) for a relaxed lunch & rest our weary bones. We unknowingly appreciate the gorgeous AmaDablam, Thamserku and Nuptse with every bite. Following lunch, the trail to Namche Bazaar clings to the steep wooded slope beyond Kyangjuma, winding through several bends. We keep a lookout for wild life such as mountain goats, snow leopards, colorful pheasants, etc, while we pass through the forest by the trail. After passing a Chorten, we reach the army camp at of Namche Bazaar. We want to take a long last look (and picture!) back to Lhotse, the tip of Everest and Tengboche from here. On reaching our lodge, we take a nice hot shower and have very relaxed sleep in our room in Namche Bazaar. Overnight in Namche Bazaar

10

Trek from Kyangjuma to Khumjung [3810 m/12500 ft] - Monjo (2850m} 5-6 hrs trek

Today's journey starts with a climb up to the famous airstrip at Syangboche. Just above the airstrip is the Everest View Hotel, a Japanese scheme to build a deluxe hotel with great views of the highest mountains on Earth. Trekking up for about 2 hours and then leveling off until we reach the village of Khumjung. The Khumjung valley surrounded by the snowy peaks of Kongde and Thamserku and the sacred peak Khumbila, hosts a well-known monastery that houses a yeti scalp. We also visit Hillary School which is at the same site. Another set of busy and colorful monasteries, lined with prayer flags and prayer wheels, are braced along the slopes high above this traditional village. We might have our lunch near PhunkiTenga. After crossing the prayer flag festooned bridge over the DudhKoshi River, trail then follows the DudhKoshi gorge descending rapidly through the pine forests. We keep a lookout for wild life such as mountain goats, snow leopards, colorful pheasants, etc., while we pass through the forest by the trail. After passing a Chorten, we reach the army camp at of Namche Bazaar. We want to take a long last look (and picture!) back to Lhotse, the tip of Everest and Tengboche from here. After Namche we walk down to the hill, cross some suspension bridges and reach Monjo for an overnight stay.

11

Trek from Monjo to Lukla (2,800m.) 4-5 hours trek.

By today we begin to get warmed up by a pleasant light breeze. Although we are traveling the same route down, we feel completely different with new views. We snap a mixture of open plains, rhododendron and pine forests, and in the distance snow covered peaks. We take time and walk leisurely today as this is the last day of our trek. We feel the Sherpa villages' impressive faith in Buddhism and culture of prayer stones and prayers flag while we walk through the villages. On arrival in Lukla, we have plenty of time to relax, stretch those tired, sore legs and recall the experiences of the last couple of weeks. We experience the conclusion of an amazing trek on a happy note with everyone back safe and sound with real happy faces! Upon arrival in Lukla, we stroll around while our leader will re-confirm our flight ticket. In the evening, we enjoy a celebration last dinner with your crew. Overnight in Lodge
